Mário Paulo

Mario dos Santos Paulo (also known as Mario Paulo) has worked as a judge for the State of Rio de Janeiro for over thirty (30) years, having retired in February 2014 as a Justice of the Fourth Civil Chamber of TJRJ (Supreme Court of the State of Rio de Janeiro) and as a member of the Special Division of the Court. Having graduated from the Law School of the University of the State of Guanabara (UEG), currently UERJ, in 1972, Justice Mario Paulo has worked as a lawyer for ten (10) years, as a State Public Defender, as a Professor of the Military Institute of Engineering (IME) and of Estácio de Sá College. Having passed the competitive examination for State Judge, he became a judge in 1984, working as a State Judge in the judicial district of Duque de Caxias.

After that, he was a Regional Judge of Civil and Criminal Courts in the Judicial District of the Capital City, becoming the main judge of the 19th Civil Court. Mario Paulo was in charge of the Election Regional Inspection Office in 1997, having been reelected to the position. He was also an assistant judge of the President in the administration of Justice Thiago Ribas Filho. Mario Paulo was promoted to Justice in December 2000 and during his performance as Justice he was a member of the Council of Judges and of the Special Division of the Supreme Court of the State of Rio de Janeiro. He received several awards and medals, among which the Medalha Tiradentes, from the Congress of the State of Rio de Janeiro; the Medalha do Mérito Judiciário Nacional, from the Association of Brazilian Judges (AMB), and the Colar do Mérito Judiciário.
